En Common Dreams hay una lista de 12 citas de Nelson Mandela, que seguramente no se publicarán en los grandes medios. Estas son dos de ellas (traducidas y acortadas; las dejo en inglés en los comentarios):
"...Una prensa crítica e independiente, que investiga, es la sangre vital de cualquier democracia. Tiene que estar libre de interferencias del estado, y tener la suficiente independecia de intereses económicos para poder hacer su investigación sin miedo. Debe ser protegida por la constitución, para a su vez poder proteger nuestros derechos como ciudadanos..."
"... Acabar con la pobreza no es una tarea de caridad, sino un acto de justicia. Igual que la esclavitud o el apartheid, la pobreza no es natural. Esta creada por el hombre y también puede ser superada y erradicada por las acciones de la gente..."
